GCSE and A-level artists showcase their masterpieces

Well done to our talented GCSE and A-level artists who showcased their work in spectular style at our annual Art, Textiles and DT exhibition.

The displays were made up of both coursework and examination projects produced by GCSE and A-level students who have studied Art, Textiles and DT, bringing together the work of around 60 students.

There was a really diverse and eclectic mix of outcomes this year including some very intricate and delicate printed and laser-cut designs, through examples of manipulated and formed wood (furniture and sculpture) to the more traditional charcoal drawings and observational paintings. All GCSE Art and A-level Textiles students also presented the garments that featured in the Fashion Show earlier this year with Year 11 displaying their individual designs, whilst Years 12 and 13 showcased their entire collections.

Mr D Branch, Head of Art, said: ‘It was great to see so many students, families and friends attending this year’s exhibition to celebrate all that hard work and creativity. I would definitely say that the show was one where innovation and an exciting use of materials were big features of the work produced this year across the different departments. Thank you to everyone for their help and support, especially the students who came into school between exams to help set up their displays.’
